SAV ARIA, 24/2 (Pars historico-naturalis) DOLICHODERINAE Dolichoderus quadripunctatus (Linnaeus, 1766) — Szalafo [1], 16.06.1994, 28.06.1994, AR (25); Szőce [1], 26.06.1994, AR (18). — Inhabits principally deciduous and mixed forests, nesting in dead branches on trees, rarely in fallen branches. Distribution: Europe, Caucasus, Minor Asia, south of West Siberia, north of Kazakhstan, Altai. Tapinoma erraticum (Latreille, 1798) — Kondorfa: Lugos-patak völgye [5], 19.06.1994, AR (32); Orfalu [5, 6], 18.06.1994, AR (53); Szakonyfalu: Grajkapatak völgye [5], 21.06.1994, AR (28); Szalafo [6], 127.06.994, AR (47). — Inhabits meadows, rarely edges of forests, nesting in the soil, often under stones. Distribution: Europe, N-W Africa, Caucasus, Minor Asia, Middle Asia, Kazakhstan. FORMICINAE Formica rufa Linnaeus, 1758 — Apátistvánfalva: Zsida-patak völgye [1, 2], 17.06.1994, AR (36); Kétvölgy: Ritkaháza [2], 18.06.1994, AR (51); Szakonyfalu: Grajka-patak völgye [2], 24.06.1994, AR (15); Szalafo [1], 15.06.1994, 27.06.1994, AR (58). — Inhabits forests, build large nests from fallen leaves, pine needles. Active entomophag and might be use in pest control. Distribution: Transpalaearctic species. Formica polyctena Foerster, 1850 — Kondorfa: Huszászi-patak völgye [2], 19.06.1994, AR (58); Szakonyfalu: Grajka-patak völgye [1], 24.06.1994, AR (42). — Distribution and ecology is similar to that of Formica rufa. New for the Hungarian fauna Formica pratensis Retzius, 1783 — Apátistvánfalva: Zsida-patak völgye [5], 30.06.1994, AR (26); Orfalu [5], 18.06.1994, AR (32); Szalafő [5], 15.06.1994, AR (51). — Inhabits meadows (principally dry), steppe, forests. Nests are similar to those of Formica rufa. Distribution: Transpalaearctic species, but its distribution is southern than the area of Formica rufa and Formica polyctena.
