Nesting previously in the soil. Distribution: Europe, Caucasus, Minor Asia, south of West Siberia, north of Kazakhstan. Formica sanguinea Latreiile, 1798 — Farkasfa: Fekete-tó [5], 18.06.1994, AR (16); Kétvölgy: Ritkaháza [5], 22.06.1994, AR (18); Magyarszombatfa [5], 21.06.1994, AR (11); Orfalu [5], 18.06.1994, AR (17); Szalafo [5], 30.06.1994, AR (31). — Slave-making ants; use ants as slaves from subgenus Serviformica ifusca, cunicularia, rufibarbis etc.). Distribution: Transpalaearctic species. Formica pressilabris Nylander, 1846 — Szaiafő [5], 17.06.1994, 30.06.1994, AR (47); Szőce [5], 26.06.1994, AR (26). — Inhabits meadows and steppe, nests are built from dead grasses and are similar to those of Formica rufa, but are not so large. Distribution: Europe, Caucasus. New for the Hungarian fauna. Distribution: Boreal Transpalaearctic species. Distribution: Europe, Caucasus, Minor Asia, as far east as the Ural Mountains. Camponotus fallax (Nylander, 1850) — Szakonyfalu: Grajka-patak völgye [1], 24.06.1994, AR (18); Szalafo [1], 27.06.1994, AR (33). — Inhabits forests, principally deciduous and mixed, nesting in dead branches on the trees. Distribution: Europe, Caucasus, south of West Siberia. Camponotus truncatus (Spinola, 1808) — Szalafo [1], 15.06.1994, 27.06.1994, 29.06.1994, AR (48). — Inhabits dry and warm forests, nesting in dead branches on the trees. Distribution: Central and Southern Europe, N-W Africa, Crimea, Caucasus, Kopetdagh. 86
