Melika, Georges: Oak gall inducing cynipids of Őrség (Hamenoptera: Cynipidae)

SAYAFtXA A VAS MEGYEI MÚZEUMOK ÉRTESÍTŐJE (1992-1995) Szombathely 22/2 (Pars historico-naturalis) . 1995 Natural History of Őrség Landscape Conservation Area, 1995 OAK GALL INDUCING CYNIPIDS OF ŐRSÉG (HYMENOPTERA: CYNIPIDAE) Georges MELIKA 1 Oak gall Inducing cyniplds of Őrség (Ну men optera: Cynlpldae) — 41 species of gall inducing cynipid wasps on oaks and wild roses were found in Őrség. Ten species of cynipid inquilines were reared from different species of galls: 9 species from oak galls and one species from rose galls. INTRODUCTION 41 species of gall inducing cynipids (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae) on oaks and wild roses were found in different parts of Őrség during the period of our investigations (15. June - 14. July 1994). Thirty seven species associated with four species of oaks (Quercus cerris, Q. robur, Q. petraea, Q. dalechampii) and four species with Rosa spp. Ten species of cynipid inquilines were reared from different gall species: 9 species of Ceroptres, Saphonecrus and Synergus from oak galls and one species of Periclistus species from rose galls. The species richness of cynipids of őrség in comparison with that of other part of Hungary is poor. For instance, near Sopron (Szárhalmi-erdő) or at Szentkút (Cserhát-Mts.) 50-60 or even more species of oak gall inducing cynipid wasps were registered by us. The main reason is that in the majority of Őrség natural habitats the oaks are represented only in a form of admixtures to the main vegetation. Larger, pure oak stands are absent in the region.
