Régészet - Istvánovits Eszter - Kulcsár Valéria: A szarmaták állatai

Istvánovits Eszter — Kulcsár Valéria a great amount of archaeozoological material. However, we still lack relevant summarising works on the composition, number and ritual role played by certain animals in the Sarmatian society. The authors attempted to summarise the accessible data on domestic and wild animals the remains of which we know from settlements and cemeteries of the Hungarian Plain. They draw attention to the serious possibilities of research, e.g. comparison of the Sarmatian livestock with that of the Late Iron Age material; archaeozoological comparison of different regions of the Great Hungarian Plain; examinations considering possible ethnic differences in the way of meat processing; demonstration of changes in the animal stock during the 400-450 years long period of Sarmatian rule in the region. The English version of the present article is to be published in the forthcoming issue of periodical Materialy po Arheologii, Istorii i Etnografii Tavrii.
