We remember him on the occasion of the 30

th anniversary of his death, but we are convinced that in fact there should be no need for any special occasion to do that. It is our responsibility or even duty to remember him and remind people of him constantly, because his legacy means more to us than the works he left behind. Born in Zsögöd (a little sekler village in Hargita County) in 1893, he was a pupil of Viktor Olgyai, fellow and friend of István Szőnyi and Vilmos Aba-Novák. He belonged to their generation, therefore he could have chosen the same path as they did, but he didn't. He returned to his native village, and painted throughout his life what he considered his mission to paint: the countryside of 479
