The Somogy County Museums Directorate together with the Archaeological Institute of the Hungarian Academy conducted preceding and rescue excavations connected with the construction of the M7 highway on an approximately 20 km long section starting from Balatonkeresztúr and ending at the county's border. On 16 spots preceding excavations, and at the same time, accompanying the construction of the motorway between Zamárdi and Balatonkeresztúr, archaeological survey and where needed, rescue excavations took place (with the help of the Archeosztráda Kft). Connected with the highway construction, the tracks of a number of approach roads were modified, thus preceding excavations took place on the encircling road around Zamárdi (Ásatárs Kft), and on the modified section of the road between Fonyód and Lengyeltóti (Archeosztráda and Ásatárs Kft). The preceding excavations of the correctional section of Route No. 67. between Somogytúr and Balatonszemes can also be connected to the above mentioned research (the Somogy County Museums Directorate, the Archaeological Institute of the Hungarian Academy and the Archeosztráda Kft. worked on the sites). The sand mines opened due to construction work were also excavated (preceding excavation at Ordacsehiben, rescue excavation at Fonyódon, test excavation in Buzsák). In two years on 42 sites of 350.000 m

2 territory about 10.000 archaeological objects were excavated. In our summarizing table the order of the reports and the most important data of these excavations can be found. (Fig. 1.) I-II. III. Among the rescue excavations Fonyód-Bézsenypuszta Turkish settlement and cemetery - is worth mentioning. IV Within the scope of the preceding excavations that took place on the territory of the correction of Route No. 67., on the expanded site of Balatonlelle-Rádpuszta (Temetőalja-dűlő és Romtemplom mellett) Roman Aged archaeological evidence and finds are prominent. The boot shaped vessel of the Urnfield Culture is the most spectacular find from the Somogytúr-Tetves patak site from 2004-2005. V Before sand mining on the territory of OrdacsehiKécsimező, we excavated the site, where the most important Celtic cemetery (LT B-C) of Southern Transdanubian is situated. These excavations of great extension were primarily supported by the Nemzeti Autópálya Zrt. (on M7 highway and the larger part of Route No. 67.), while on the Somogytúr section of Route No. 67. the Magyar Közút Kht provided the financial means. We could build an exceptionally good cooperation with the executors during the construction of the Zamárdi-Balatonszárszó section, where the Hídépítő Rt provided the facilities for the archaeological works.
