MAGYARORSZÁGI NEUROPTEROIDEA FAUNÁJA KUTATÁSA 181 LEVENTE ABRAHAM-ZOLTAN PAPP:THE STORY OF RESEARCHING THE HUNGARIAN NEUROPTEROIDEA FAUNA (Megaloptera, Raphidioptera, Neuroptera) Resume The authors outline the growth of the Hungarian neuropterology until now in their paper. The first species described from the area of Hungary was the Megalomus torticoides Rambur, 1842. From 1850 a collection had been made up from the Neuropteroidea from the works of Frivaldszky. The Hungarian authors published only faunistic articles until the turn of the century Frivaldszky (1871, 1872, 1873, 1876, 1879), Mocsáry (1872, 1875, 1876, 1878, 1886). From this period the study of Lajos Bíró written about the Hungarian antlions in 1885 is excelled Mocsáry completed the first faunacatalogue in 1899 with the help of Klapalek. Klapalek describes a species called Chrysopa hungarica from Budapest at that time. Mocsáry and Pongrácz made intensive researches in Hungary after the turn of the century. The species described by Pongrácz were all proved to be synonym. (See Table 4.) The Hungarian fauna was hardly researched between the two World Wars. Unfortunately the Neuroptera collection created in the middle of last century was burnt up so its details, type species were destroyed. Today there is still a collection in Mátra Museum (Gyöngyös) and in the Natural History Museum of Bakony (Zirc) and in the Somogy county Museum (Kaposvár). Steinmann H. valued the Hungarian fauna in taxonomic respect in the 60's if our century. He described several taxons which were synonymized later Aspöck & Aspöck (1966, 1969) Aspöck et al. (1980), Sziráki (1992a). The work of S. Újhelyi was a kind of revealing type and it was conducive to the development of the museum Neuroptera collection in several country towns. With Béla Kis they described a new species under the name of Chrysopa commata in 1965. The authors give an account of today's research policies, and also of the Neuroptera collections kept in the provincial science and private collections. They also deal with the problems of environmental protection in their papers. In had been found that the researchers working nowadays equally make taxonomical, faunistical and ecological studies. A list is given about the species living in Hungary, the synonym names appearing in the Hungarian literature. All the scientific articles dealing with the Hungarian fauna are listed in the literary catalogue.
