Diachrysia nadeja (Oberthur, 1880) - a hazai fauna új tagja (Lepidoptera, NoctuUpdated results of studies on the butterflies and larger moths (Lepidoptera) of the Villány Hills, South Hungary. Levente ÁBRAHÁM and Ákos UHERKOVICH 724 lepidopterous species (butterflies and larger moths) have become known as a result of examinations in the sixties, then recently, in the years 1999 and 2000. One of the taxa, Polymixis rufocincta isolata Ronkay et Uherkovich proved to be a unique species of the biosphere, thus it is an endemic one for the Villány Hills. Further three species (Aedia leucomelas L., Callopistria latreillei Dup. and Hepialus amasinus pinkeri Daniel) live only here in Hungary. Aedia leucomelas L. proved to be a relatively frequent species of the thermophilous, dry southern slopes. It is on wing from the end of May until the beginning of July, being frequent occasionally. It is quite likely that it had been found earlier. At that time we must have confused it with the similar species Catephya alchymista Den. et Schiff. Several other species have been pointed out from the area of these hills and their environment, therefore the fauna and the area exmined are rather valuable for us. The southern slopes having particular vegatation and climate are very interesting from the aspect of zoogeography. It is here that almost all of the rare and unique species occur. The bulk of these taxa have a Mediterranean or sub-Mediterranean distribution, for this reason they are important elements of the Hungarian fauna. On the contrary, the northern slopes and the foot of the hills are characterised by widely distributed species that are characteristic for dry or mesophilous forests, although some rare and interesting species can also be found here. During the recent studies, in 1999 and 2000 further 116 species were collected in the hills. Some of them can be considered as rare species. E. g. the first specimens of Limenitis Camilla L. from South-Transdaubia were collected at the northern foot of the hills. Cucullia farmosa Rghf. occur only in the Mecsek Mountain and Villány Hills. Earlier we had found only larvae on the peak region of Szársomlyó Hill, but recently we collected an adult by light. Although Diachrysia nadeja Obth. had been known as a species characteristic for wet forests of the flood area of larger rivers, a specimen was collected here, too. Calospilos sylvatus Scop, and Hydriomena furcata Thnbg. are also idae). - Dunántúli Dolg. Term. tud. Sor. 2: 127131. VARGA Z., 1990. Lepkék (Lepidoptera) rendje. In: RAKONCZAY Z.
