Clypeus straight anteriorly. Mesosomal sternite 1 without medial longitudinal carina. Posterior part of head and dorsal parts of mesosoma (pronotum, tegulae, scutellum and larger anterior part of propodeum) reddish brown, remaining parts of body black. Whole body covered by long erect pale setae, forming weak band on posterior part of tergites 1-3. Forewing with 2 cellula cubitalis and 2 cellula discoidalis (Fig. 157). 8-10 mm. Myrmilla (Myrmilla) mutica (ANDRÉ, 1903) Platymyrmilla ANDRÉ , 1900 Female head rectangular, conspicuously elongate, barely wider than mesosoma; underside convex with sharp-edged margins. Mandibles tridentate, widening toward apex. Anterior margin of clypeus with two flat tubercles. Flagellomere 1 twice as long as 2. Mesopleuron noticeably taperink backward. Sides of mesopleuron with high carina before coxae. White coloured pattern on metasoma forming bands on posterior parts of tergites 1-5. Male clypeus with anterior longitudinal carina dividing into two parts, ending in two small tubercles. Mandibles spathuliform, with small tooth before apex but no subbasal protrusion on outer side. Flagellomere 1 barely noticeably shorter than 2. Mesosomal sternite 1 without carina. Mesosomal sternite 2 of larger specimens with medial longitudinal carina. Felt line on tergite 2 twice as long as that on sternite 2. Forewing with 2 cellula cubitalis and 2 cellula discoidalis, no radial vein. Only one species belongs to this genus, which occurs in Europe, but was not found in Hungary as yet. 1 (2) Apterous forms, females. Mesosoma widest anteriorly, narrowest at about two-thirds. Dorsal part of mesosoma with wrinkles, sides smooth. Metasomal sternite 1 with small pointed tubercle. Tergite 6 with small foveae and smooth longitudinal surface in middle. Vertex and mesosoma red or brownish red; ventral part of head, sides of mesosoma and legs chestnut brown, and metasoma dark chestnut brown, almost black. Antennae black, reddish brown toward base. Vertex and mesosoma with sparse, erect, dark setae. Undersides of head, legs and metasomal sternites with sparse, pale setae forming weak transversal band on posterior margin of sternites. Posterior margin of tergites with band of pale setae, that on tergite 2 produced triangularly forward; tergite 6 completely covered with yellowish setae. Large species (Fig. 161). 10-16 mm. An East Mediterranean species, it probably does not live in Hungary, although the MTM houses two female specimens, one is labelled as „Hungaria" and another one as „Szászkézd", from Transylvania, Romania. Distribution: Greece, Macedonia, Moldavia, Romania, and the Near and Middle East (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Syria, Turkey). [Platymyrmilla quinquefasciata (OLIVIER, 1811)]
