100 NATURA SOMOGYIENSIS Paramyrmosa SAUSSURE, 1880 Female head rectangular and wider than mesosoma. Anterior angle of mesosoma acute. Mandibles unidentate. Pygidium weakly developed, finely granulate and covered with thick pubescence. Metasomal segment 1 and anterior half of 2 red. Male head transverse, rounded. Mandibles bidentate. Metasomal ventrie 1 with small anterior denticle. Contours of metasomal segments not separated. Metasomal tergite 7 without depression, posterior margin rounded. Mesosoma and metasoma completely black. The genus includes 2 species in Europe. One occurs in Hungary. 1 (2) Apterous forms, females. Mandibles unidentate, darker toward apex (Fig. 101). Very small ocelli visible only under stronger magnification. Mesosoma about 1.5x as long as wide, widest at front, slightly constricted at about two thirds. Metasomal segment 1 nearly parallel-sided , widest about middle. Metasomal sternite 1 with small tubercle. Head and larger part of metasoma black. Antenna, base of mandible, entire mesosoma, metasomal segment 1 and base of metasomal segment 2 and legs rusty brown. Head and dorsal part of mesosoma with short pale pubescence. Legs and ventral parts of mesosoma sparsely covered by erect pale setae (Fig. 151). 6-9 mm. It is a Mediterranean species, preferring drier, sandy places. In Hungary it is very common, both males and females were collected in many places (Fig. 3), although usually just a single specimen from each place. Known period of collection: 30. V-4. X. Distribution: Albania, Armenia, Austria, Belarus, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey and Ukraine. Paramyrmosa brunnipes (LEPELETIER, 1846) 2 (1) Winged forms, males. Clypeus convex, with weak medial longitudinal carina reaching apex. Mandible bidentate (Fig. 102). Flagellomere 2 as long as 3 and a little longer than 1. Middle of anterior part of metasomal sternite 2 without tooth-like process (Fig. 129). Apex of last tergite rounded (Fig. 122). Body completely black, pubescence pale, posterior edge of metasomal segments with thin band of hairs. Wings transparent (Fig. 150). 5-10 mm. Paramyrmosa brunnipes (LEPELETIER, 1846) 2nd subfamily: Myrmillinae BISCHOFF, 1920 Female head usually significantly wider than mesosoma. Ocelli absent. Flagellomere 1 about twice longer 2. Inner edge of mandibles with well-developed denticles. Scutellar scale absent. Metasomal tergite 2 with felt lines. Pygidium absent in species occurring in Hungary. Males winged, with few exceptions (subgenus Psendomutilla of Myrmilld). Inner margin of eye entire, not excised. Ocelli small. Tegulae small. Pterostigma small and trans-
