Mandibles strongly widening from middle toward base, bidentate, but denticles barely visible. Flagellomere 2 about twice longer than 1, about as long as 3. Body uniformly black or pitch brown, except reddish brown dorsal parts of mesosoma (pronotum, mesonotum, tegulae, scutellum and propodeum). Whole body with pale sparse long erect setae, meta­somal tergites without spot, at most with weak band of sparse pubescence. Mesosoma and tegulae with brown hairs. Wings transparent. Small species (Fig. 191). 4-9 mm. Smicromyrme (Smicromyrme) ruficollis (FABRICIUS, 1793) 19 (18) Metasomal segment 1 longer than or as long as its maximum width. Propodeum black. Clypeus concave, with Y-shaped elevation. Mandibles clearly bidentate, (Fig. 112). Flagellomere 2 about twice as long as 1, and about as long as 3. Surface of propodeum coarsely sculptured, sloping gently backward. Inner side of metacoxa with carina not ending with tooth. Antennae and legs black or dark pitch brown. Metasoma and mesosoma black, except rusty brown pronotum, mesonotum, tegu­lae and scutellum. Occasionally entire mesosoma black. Head and upper parts of mesosoma with sparse dark setae, frons with appressed pale setae. Metasomal segments 1-5 with pale setae forming weak band on posterior part. Legs with pale setae. Forewings slightly dark, not transparent. Small species (Fig. 193). 4-9 mm. Smicromyrme (Smicromyrme) rufipes (FABRICIUS, 1787) 20 (17) Anterior margin of clypeus without denticles or elevations (3rd subgenus: Eremotilla LELEJ, 1985). Volsella reaching or surpassing inner process of para­meron. Head and metasoma black, some parts of mesosoma sometimes rusty red. Males of two species occurring in Hungary (Smicromyrme nonveilleri és Smicromyrme triangularis) unknown. 3.3rd tribe: Trogaspidiini BISCHOFF, 1920 Female head distinctly narrower than metasomal tergite 2. Metasomal segment 1 rela­tively short. Tergite 2 with two pale spots located transversely, nearer to anterior margin. Pygidium present or absent. Male tegulae reaching suture between scutellum and mesonotum. Scutellum usually with cone-shaped tubercle, occasionally with smooth longitudinal carina. Hypopygium with long, lateral, well-developed carina or process. Trogaspidia ASHMEAD, 1899 Female with flagellomere 1 about 1.5x as long as 2. Scutellar scale present. Pygidium present. Body black, mesosoma rusty red.
