Description of the new species
The new species is placed in genus Pachymnematus and subgenus Larinematus according the current systematic works (e.g. BLANK, TAEGER 2007). Alternatively it may be classified into Pikonema sensu VIKBERG (1982) who regarded all representatives of the subtribe Nematini (including the later erected Larinematus) associated with conifers as Pikonema species. These species are characterized by claws with a short inner tooth combined with elongated tarsi of the hind legs and by sawsheath with apical emargination (ZINOVJEV 1993). ZHELOCHOVTSEV (1988) erected genus Larinematus for Pikonema imperfectum group associated with Larix. The new species seems to be the most related to Pachynematus imperfectus (Zaddach, 1876) by the toothless form of saw. However Pachynematus tatricus can be easily separated from the known Pikonema and Larinematus species by the unique coloration and the shape of saw and sawsheath. Fig. 27.
