the century he was given the commission to design the Hungarian pavilion in Venice, which served as the first place for Hungarian art to be displayed. The manuscript published in our book can be used as a source in addition to György Siimegi,s paper. István Zichy: (1879-1951): A Diary (selection) István Zichy, known as one of the members of the Art Colony in Gödöllő, wrote his memory just before his death. The manysided artistic life of the turn of the century brightens up on his pages. He gives us a detailed description of the work and every day life of academies and art colonies. Pieces selected by Katalin Keserii, art historian, can be used as important sources for understanding how the artists of the Gödöllő Art Colony lived and worked together in a creative way. Aladár Körösfői Kriesch : (1863-1920) A Diary from World War I. Aladár Körösfői Kriesch, a painter, was one of the most important figures of the Gödöllő Art Colony (1901-1920). As many other artists Körösfői went to the Italian battle-line to gather experiences in the bloody fights of World War I. His shocking memory - published with an introduction and notes of Sándor Illés - is considered to be a valuable source partly for getting to know his visual sensibility and artistic way of seeing things and partly for getting to know the brutality and cruelty of wars. Zsuzsa Hegedűs: The Csupor-collection from Tordas Zoltán Csupor, a Salesian monk, lives in Tordas, a village about 30 kms far from Budapest. As a result of some ten years of work he has made up a valuable historical and art collection. By contract the ownership of the collection, containing archeological materials, collection of art and fine art pieces, maps and interesting objects representing the development of technology, will be transferred to the Town Museum of Gödöllő. In her essay Hegedűs gives a description of Zoltán Csupor,s walk of life, the way how the collection has been made up and also gives a selection of the most precious and interesting pieces of art. 213
