Variations for an Arc Geometry was created to serve all kinds of human demands. Just like mathematics and physics, which are equally important as the painting. The science of forms is the most suitable way to express personality. However, from the approach of mathematics, these are also the scales which can express personalities in a latent form. If I say, referring to figurative painting, that the scale of body and head is 1 to 5, in this case it means Velasquez, if 1 is in proportion to 15, that is Greco. While, physics is the carrier of the sounding of colors it also tells a lot about personalities. From among the 3 basic forms of geometry, I think circle and ellipse are the most typical of my art, since these are very human forms. If we look into the gate of life, to the elliptic junctions, all the shapes are there from circle-like and ellipse-like forms. Straight and right angle are fictions invented by man, schemes which do not exist in real space, though these are important parts of human thinking. I have got a fundamental attraction towards circle-like forms, which definitely and positively tend toward womanhood. The beauty and elegance of women have always fascinated me. When I just went over my works, executed in the last 50 years, I came to the conclusion that my most typical pictures and sculptures were shaped from circles and ellipses. This is the reason why I selected works for the present show, which are built from circles both in plane and space. Concrete art generally applies less these themes, it rather prefers square and triangle. In my case it worked from the beginning, at first in the form of wave. My favorite works are those which are perforated. The essence of gap is important for me, as I used to say “Gap is real existence”. My relief pictures belong to the category of minimal art and reflex art. One single form of circle is cut and pulled down to 8-10 degrees, when both its thickness and segment can be seen, which are painted by an intensive color. The essence of painting is color, while form is that of sculpture. What and how are these warm and cool colors. One of them is warm, while the other one is cool. There is only a nuance difference between the two white colors, then the intensive color, offered by the segment, colors on the white. It can be felt gently and silently, while my absolute way of seeing colors is for gourmands. Variations for an Arc: The variations for an Arc works are built from one piece of radius of an arc, executed from massive wood. This time it has 6 variations. Now I have exhibited the numbers 3, 4 and 5 from the series, which were done in a final material that is red mahogany. These simple massive bodies represent my approach: never apply two forms or colors, if you can do it from a single one. That is why these forms are homogeneous and organic at the same time. Real minimal art works. 87
