VERTEBRATE FAUNAS OF THE CARPATHIAN BASIN During the last two decades intensive field-work has been managed by the author in Northern Hungary and in Western Romania for collecting microveretebrate faunas from Sarmatian nonmarine and shallow marine sediments. Those are Tá?ad/Tasád, Värciorog/Vércsorog in Romania and Kozárd, Felsőtárkány-Felnémet 2/3, Felsőtárkány- Felnémet 2/7, Felsőtárkány 1, Felsőtárkány 2, Felsőtárkány 3/2, Felsőtárkány 3/8 and Felsőtárkány 3/10 in Northern Hungary. In this publication we present the complete list of the elaborated fossils (Verterates and Invertebraes) from these localities. The biochronological correlation of the faunas Tä?ad, Värciorog and Kozárd is possible after the rich invertebrate materials. These localities are possible to classify as Early Sarmatian. Värciorog and Kozárd are referable to the Elphidiwn reginam Zone. The last crocodiles in the Carpathian Basin are found in Ta$ad, and Värciorog. Those are important markers of a warm subropic climate. In these faunas there are indications 500
