Analysis of written sources, complemented by oral reports and documented objects and photographs have made it possible to create a picture of the life, homes and portable property of the family between the two world wars. On the basis of these it can be seen that the ambitious family made its way ever higher up the urban social ladder. This is borne out by the conditions of their homes, their lifestyle, mentality but primarily by their social status (qualificati ons, line of work, financial position). After 1945 rank and prestige of the various members of the family was ensured through professional status. As regards their private lives the family drifted apart. The testator, Rózsa Városi, died without issue, just as many of her Budapest relatives have no children. A part of the southern branch of the family made their way to Austria. The greater part of the descendants of the Upper Hungary branch now live in and around Szeged. Although only loose ties connect them, they are all clear of their origin and foster the memory of their ancestors. Together with the treatment of other, similar family histories, this analysis also proves material finds are important departure points for achieving results in complementary social historical research.
