2. upper group: in the 3 rd and 4 th layer the finds of the Rangifer tarandus and arctic micromammals were characteristic MOTTL (citated above) had given a list of the species collected in the different layers of the Peskft Cave till 1940 (table 1). The plaeolit culture of the section was determined by KAOIC, (1944) and VÉRTES, (1965) aurignacien. In Groningen а С examination was effected on the bone sample collected by Vértes L. from the 5 th layer result in 34 600 + 580 year (GEYM et al 1969), KROLOPP, 1977). There are no serious differences~in the question of the geochronological position of the layers at the different authors (KADIC, 1944; VÉRTES, 1965;' JÄN0SSY , 1979, 1986; RINGER, 1988). The lower layers are regarded "middle wormian" and the upper group is determined "upper wormian". After the new collection we needn't change these ideas essentialy. On the basis of the vole-diagram and the paleoclimatic curve (fig. 3) (vole thermomet'her method after KORDOS, 1977) we can state the absence of the arctic micromammal fauna in the present section. The designation of the 4 th layer at the back of the cave was probably a mistake of KADIC, (1944). For the most part the material of the section was formed during a mild and dry climate. Possible it was the Hengelo interstadial (LÄBEYRIE, 1984).
