The paper presents the brief history of these two cemeteries, as well as that of the now closed Rókus cemetery from their emergence to the beginning of the 19th century. Although they played an important role in the life of the town, unfortunately the literature contains several inaccuracies regarding this subject. The author of the study wishes to clarify these issues while also trying to place the trends of cemetery maintenance and the cult of the dead into a European context. 450
