Apart from the figures of national renown it was the family histories of the local nobility and lesser nobility which had an important effect on the lives of the villages. The sayings relating to the founding of villages and the arrival of settlers formed part of Bakó's investigations into genealogical history and the special ethnographical group living in and around Tarnalelesz. While the historical sayings of Heves County amount to a much neglected field of study, twenty years of extensive research into Palóc culture has yet to address this particular topic. Ferenc Bakó's collection of sayings could, however, form the starting point for further investigations. 346
