1552-ben (The Defence of Eger Castle in 1952) was published. The same year István Sugar's Az egri vár és viadala (Eger Castle and its Struggle) arrived at the Zrínyi Katonai Kiadó publishing house. This proved the first in a whole stream of research projects relating to the castle undertaken by the author. During the 1980s the Border Castle Conferences provided a further forum where the topic could be studied more thoroughly and in ever greater detail. 284
