Enikő LovQS The Nagybákay Family and the Déri Museum Members ofthe Nagybákay Sesztina and Nagybákay Rickl families as­sumed the role of patrons in the foundation and development ofthe Déri Museum. The personal sucesses ofthe individual members added up to the rise and prosperity of a well-known family. Their creativity and man­agement skills earned their contemporaries' respect and made them ex­amples ofthe versatile bourgeois entrepreneur. By virtue ofthe wide range of their interests and their readiness to act they left a lasting mark on cultural and social as well as economic life. Family tradition, with its set of principles, passed the spirituality of devoted creation from gener­ation to generation. The family's activity as patrons was closely linked to the Déri Museum, as one ofthe manifestations of their local patriotic views. The history ofthe family and the museum was closely intertwined, having outstanding cultural historical relevance up to the present day.
