TANULMÁNYOK SOCAGE CONDITIONS AND THE MATTER OF PRISONS STATISTICAL MANUSCRIPTS OF MOSON COUNTY FROM 1847 A statistical manuscript composed of four pieces of tabular format and dating from 1847 gives an overview of the socage conditions of the settlements of Moson County and the conditions of the county prisons. The special value of this source lies in the fact that it recorded the socage duties typical to the individual villages and the forms of their compensation immediately before the emancipation of the serfs. The source also registered the seasonal changes of the day labour and the number of the houses subject to taxation. Since the archives of the Archducal Domain of Magyaróvár was perished by fire in 1956 no similar records survived referring to the whole of the domain, this source alleviates this shortfall. When presenting the prison conditions in the county and in the Archducal Domain of Mosonmagyaróvár the source brakes down the crimes according to their types and the religion, sex and origin of the criminals. This source can excellently be used in the agricultural, society and local historical researches. URBAL- UND GEFÄNGNISWESEN HANDSCHRIFTLICHE STATISTISCHE ERHEBUNG DES KOMITATES MOSON AUS DEM JAHRE 1847 Die in dem Mosonmagyaróvárer Filialarchiv aufbewahrte 1847 entstandene, aus vier Stücken bestehende Quelle gibt in tabellarischer Form Auskunft über Frondienst- und Haftanstaltverhältnisse der Siedlungen im Komitat Moson. Die Quelle ist als ein sehr wertvolles Zeitzeugnis anzusehen, weil sie die für die einzelnen Siedlungen typischen Fronverpflichtungen und deren Ablöseformen unmittelbar vor der Abschaffung der Leibeigenschaft festhält. Sie gibt auch die jahreszeitliche Wandlungen des Tagelohns, bzw. die Zahl der von der Steuer betroffenen Häuser bekannt. Nachdem die Dokumentation der Altenburger Erzherzeglichen Herrschaft 1956 abbrannte, und für das gesamte Gut ähnliche Erhebungen nicht zur Verfügung stehen, mildert diese Quelle diesen Mangel. Bei der Behandlung der Haftanstaltverhältnisse bezüglich des Komitats und der Altenburger Henschaft werden neben der Auflösung laut Straftaten auch eine Aufteilung nach Geschlecht und Abstammung veröffentiicht. Diese Quelle kann sich über die Agrar- und Gesellschaftswissenschaft hinaus, auch bei der lokalgeschichtlichen Forschungstätigkeit hervorrageng bewähren. 264
