TANULMÁNYOK THE PORTRAIT OF COUNT VICZAY HÉDERVÁRI HÉDER IN THE COLLECTION OF XÁNTUS JÁNOS MUSEUM In the autumn of 1989, 30 items of the portrait collection of the museum was exhibited in the "historic portrait gallery" on the ground floor of the museum. The large-scale portrait of Viczay Héder can also be seen here. The count was the last male member of the ancient Viczay family (1807-1873) (whose name also referred to the mediaeval Hédervári family, which had a descendant along the female branch). Although he inherited the passion of collecting works of art from his grandfather, Viczay Mihály, but his life took a turn, due to which he stood pre-eminent among the aristocrats of his age because of his roles in public life. He became an enthusiastic adherent and follower of Széchenyi István. In 1867, he became the president of the Economic Association of Győr and Its Region, and as such, he developed the practice of nodern economic regionalism "over" the counties. On 23 March 1868, he became the Lord Lieutenant of Győr County, and as such, established peace in the rooms of the County Hall, and helped the county organised on feudal foundations to reach the state of self-government characterised by the features of the middle-class. In 1868, Barabás Miklós made a lithograph of Viczay Héder, and in 1873, Marastoni József made a stone drawing of the Lord Lieutenant, and based on that, Vajda Zsigmond painted Viczay Héder's representative portrait. The dedication ceremony of the painting took place in the banqueting hall of the County Hall on 3 October 1892. Tóth László PORTRAIT VON GRAF VICZAY HÉDERVÁRI HÉDER IN DER SAMMLUNG DES XÁNTUS-JÁNOS-MUSEUMS Aus der Portraitsammlung des Museums stellten wir im Herbst 1989 im Erdgeschoss des Museums 30 Werke in der dortigen „historischen Portraitgalerie" aus. Darunter auch das großformatige Portrait von Viczay Héder. Der Graf, letztes männliches Mitglied der uralten Familie Viczay (1807-1873), (der in seinem Namen einen Hinweis auch auf die im Mittelalter lebende Familie Hédervári trug, deren er in weiblicher Linie abstammte), erbte zwar die Leidenschaft seines Großvaters für das Sammeln von Kunstwerken, jedoch entwickelte sich sein Leben so, dass er infolge seiner öffentlichen Funktionen unter den Aristokraten seiner Zeit herausragte. Er war ein begeisterter Anhänger und Begleiter Széchenyi Istváns. 1867 wurde er Präsident des Wirtschaftsvereins von Győr und Umgebung, hier gestaltete er die Praxis des modernen wirtschaftlichen, „über" den Komitaten stehenden Regionalismus. Am 23. März 1868 wurde er zum Obergespan des Burgkomitats Győr berufen, und in dieser Eigenschaft war er es, der Ruhe in den Sälen des Komitatshauses schuf und das auf Standesbasis organisierte Burgkomitat bis hin zur bürgerlichen Selbstverwaltung führte. Im Jahre 1868 fertigte Barabás Miklós eine Lithographie über Viczay Héder, 1873 wiederum gravierte Marastoni József den Obergespan auf Stein, woraufhin Vajda Zsigmond das repräsentative Portrait Viczay Héder malte. Die feierliche Einweihung des Bildes fand am 3. Oktober 1892 im Prunksaal des Komitatshauses statt. Tóth László 280
