TANULMÁNYOK Horváth József: Bequests of the Parish Priests of Lébény at the Turn of the 18th - 19th Century Historical research has not dealt thoroughly either with the history of the settlements of Moson County in the 18th - 19th century or village wills of the era, or the bequest documents of the Roman-Catholic lower clergy until now. This is why the subject of this study is interesting, from several points of view - which tries to expose the bequest documents of three former parish priests of Lébény after a brief introductory section on the research history and history of the settlement. Bolodár Ferenc made a will in 1779, Visi Ferenc in 1797 and Adlmann Máté in 1816, therefore their bequests enable us to obtain an insight to the relations at the turn of the 18th - 19th century. We only know Visi Ferenc's will, while in the two other cases the inventories of estate survived as well, furthermore several documents related to debts and testamentary traditions, receipt-notes confirming the payments of funeral costs are available, summarising the data of the above documents highlights numerous exciting issues. Adlmann Mate's inventory is extremely interesting, since it reveals who bought which assets at the auction, and the analysis of the name-list consisting of 76 names may draw some social-historical conclusions. This way, not only shall be able to gain information on the parish priests, but on the inhabitants of the settlement, such as: who participated in the auction, how much they spent, what kind of assets they bought, but it also reveals who took part in the duties of the funeral and the settlement of the bequest. The aim of this study is not only to demonstrate the content of three testamentary documents, but the author intended it as a methodological experiment, since sources of the same nature are not available in the archives, yet. 363
