Our knowledge on the career of Hadrian's well known praefectus praetorio has been completed by a few recently found inscriptions since World War II. The contradictions inherent in these inscriptions made it evident at the outset that they mention two persons of similar names but not identical. The fragmentary stone of Caesarea (Ann. Ép. 1946:113) has, preserved the name of T. Flavius T. fil. Palatina Priscus Gallonius Publicius Severus Q. Március Turbo (the same is seen also on the inscription derived from Rapidum, Ann. Ép 1911:108), whereas the inscription found at the North Syrian Cyrrhus (Ann. Ép. 1955:225) has the name of Q. Március С. f. Tromen. tina Fronto Turbo Publicius Severus, coming fron> the Dalmatian Epidaraus. B. E. Thomasson was inclined to identify the praefectus praetorio, having led the joint Dacián and Lower Pannonian armies against the Yazigians on a special mission before, with the personality mentioned by the first source (Die Statthalter der römischen Provinzen Nordafrikas von Augustus bis Diocletianus [Lund 1960] II, 246—253). On the contrary the author, similarly to H. G. Pflaum (Les carrières procuratoriennes équestres sous le Haut-Empire Romain [Paris 1960] 199—216, Nr. 94; 375—379, Nr. 157 bis), votes for the latter.
