there is usually a moustache ornament made up of two semi-circular lattices, while the belly has two or three vertical ribs (Pi. X 6; XII 4, 5; XIII 5—13). So-called vases for suspension. They are known only from the southern sites of the type so far. An early form came ti light from grave 193 at Szőreg, showing pierced wart handles yet (PI. X no. 13). The Csépa and Szelevény specimens are formally identical, but they have already small strap handles and plastic rib ornaments on their bodies (PI. X 13, XII 11). The vases for suspension from graves 176 and 184 at Szőreg are distinguished from the former by their more slender shape; the former stands on a pedestal made up of small warts, the support of the latter is not perforated (PI. X 5; XI 2). — The large-size onehandled vessel of the Kiskunfélegyháza Museum consists of the elements usual an the pots and vases for suspension (PI. XII no. 13). Bowls. It is strange that we do not meet the conical handled bowls with arched necks, general in the Nagyrév culture, in the Kőtörés group. Instead cuplike bowls are oecuring with rough truncated cone shapes, having simall handles applied to their sides (PI. X 9, 12). Pots. The common features of the pots found in graves 176 and 184 at Szőreg, further at Röszke an the thick side, the smooth neck, then a lattice partitioned by finger impressions and the brushed body. The pots have one or two handles (PI. X. 8; XI 9). In the northern group two-handled pots are occurring with necks arched sligthly to the inside and smooth bodies (PL XIII 6, 12). Such vessels were found in graves 8 and 12 at Alsónémedi. 32 Decoration. The semi-circular moustache ornament placed under the handles of the jars and pots is very frequent and characteristic (PL XII 2, 4, 5). At Kőtörés a three-pointed variety is also occurring (PI. XII no. 2). On jars, pots and vessels for suspension the plastic ornament made up of 2 to 4 vertical ribs is also general and typical. They are situated always on the bellies of the vessels, below the juncture of the necks and the bodies (PL X 5, 6; XI 2, 5, 6). An incised ornament is (known only from a stray jar at Vác. Its patterns are incrusted (PL XIII 11). Cemeteries of the Szigetszentmiklós type 33 The cemeteries of the group are situated along the stretch of the Danube beginning south of Budapest. We he.ve given them the name after the most important site, Síigetszentmiklós on the Csepel island. Szigetszentmiklós. Among other Bronze Age finds the National Museum has acquired an urn-pot (Hungarian National Museum 49,1908). Its body is brushed, its arched neck smoothed (PI. XIV n^ 6). From the find a small Nagyrév jug with an angular body 34 (PL XIV no. 8) and a one-handled goblet-like beaker with an arched side (PL XIV no. 7. 7) may belong to it. Sziget s zentmiklós. N. Fettich has collected for the Hungarian National Museum (33, 1944) a one-handled goblet-like vessel with arched sides. Height: 18,6 cm (PI. XVI no. 9). 32 N. KALICZ op. cit.. pl. XXIII no. 8, pl. A flat sand-hill has been carried away near the milestone of 7 km, along the highway leading to' the factory. At this occasion the workers found urn pits at a distance of 9 to 10 m to each other; the engineer of the State Constructions Board rescued 27 vessels from these. Among them he kept the goods of five graves together. We learn nothing of the circumstances of discovery except the fact that they were cremation graves.
