Among the healing habits of the Alsótanya people (people of Mórahalom) we can find prayers, magic formulae and medicinal herbs just like in the case of the whole area neighbouring Szeged. But in the case of people of Alsótanya the most significant of these is the faith in the cure and recovery - realised as prayers besides the use of consecrated medicinal herbs. The ill were encouraged to pray by healing men, of whom the most famous was Engi Tüdő Vince (Vince Engi "Lung") of Domaszék. Paprika and brandy, which were available in any household, played a most important role among the medicines. Nowadays elderly ladies use both prayers and medicinal herbs to protect the health of the members of their families. 98
