The themes strikingly express the professional commitment of the dominant historian museologists (eg., István Vass, Imre Czeglédi, Ferenc Szabó, József Borsi, Mrs. Elena Csobai, János Kocsor). In the period from 1952 to 1989, the writings on the workers’ movement bear wittness of the "official" view of history of the time. The foundation stone of the Historical Archives is made up by essays of volunteer local history collectors who were local patriots committed to the knowledde on local history. From the 1960s, the operational framework of an ever spreading local history movement was provided, by way of local history projects, by Patriots’ Popular Front. Established in the bigger settlements, the local history study groups recorded the historical events of their local environment and they nurtured the memory of prominent local personalities. Memoirs and autobiographies were given more and more space and curators’ tape recorded document collections proliferated. Worldwide, the archives of museums have obtained more and more publicity, the collections so far hidden in stores have become more widely known. 364
