Hajdú Mihály: Orosháza XVIII. századi személynévrendszere

to great degree in the whole century, but this is characteristic in the whole Hungarianspeaking area. Name giving according to the name-day is very frequent especially in the case of boys (18%), with girls it's less (10%). In the case of some names the importance of the name-day was extremely high (George, Michael; Elisabeth, Kate etc.). The name inheritage from parents is 21—22% with boys, 18% with girls. Petnames cannot be shown so successfully. Only few occur in written documents, and probably giving petnames was very rare among the people of Orosháza in the 18th century. The summary tries to find answers to questions occuring the history of settlements. The auther states that the original inhabitants came from West-Dunántúl and beared Hungarian names. In the 2nd half of the century many Slovaks settled, and the infiltration from other parts of the country was remarkable as well but they remained only fraction of the original inhabitants, so the Hungarian character of the town was not changed. 112
