Debrecen From mouth to eye The moral education of the youth of the Mária Congregation in the earlier 20th century The study presents the efforts of the Mária Congregations regarding the moral and social disciplining of Catholic youth. Many Neo-Baroque-like elements can be noted in the Catholic Church's struggle against modernism, the ideal culminating in the 20th century. These include the elaboration and the defence of the Immaculata, the Immaculate Conception, the efforts to organise grand, showy events, various ceremonies, fairs and theatrical plays. During the Baroque period, the Mária Congregation could boast an outstanding moral impact among the bourgeoisie, especially after the introduction of the Mária (St. Mary's) Virtues, the disciplining of the body, cleanliness and humility.
