Nyíregyháza, 7-24. CONVERSATION WITH THE 75 YEAR-OLD PROFESSOR SÁNDOR FRISNYÁK The retired university senior lecturer Sándor Frisnyák is the eminent personality of the geography teachers' training and the historical geography. The college teacher László Boros had an interview with the 75 years-old wise man about his lifework. This conversation exposed that Sándor Frisnyák besides his professorial and academic public activity also dealt with landscape research. From the 1970s he has been engaged in the historical geography of the Carpathian Basin. In this subject matter many studies and books of him were issued. One of them is the book entitled "The historical geography of Hungary" (Budapest, 1990), which is recognized as a standard work and through which its creator is seen as a school establishing scientist by the geographic world. On the occasion of the 1,100* anniversary of the Hungarian conquest and the 1,000 th anniversary of the establishment of the kingdom he arranged a number of international conferences on the historical geography of the Carpathian Basin from 1996 till 2004. Beyond the comprehensive research of the complete area of the historic Hungary he also researched on the history of the culture landscapes, the landscape use and the changes in activities of man in time and space of several sample-regions in East Hungary (e.g. the Hernád Valley, Bodrogköz, the Southborsod floodbasin and the Zemplén Mountains). The work of professor Frisnyák has won high national and professional honours. László Boros
