Telepy Katalin: Tenkács Tibor (Borsodi Kismonográfiák 27. Miskolc, 1987)

His third chosen activity relates with his pedagogical makeup. His humanistic attitude designated him to serve public interests. He made efforts to help his art companions in establishing Art life. Being a young painter, first on his own, he founded a private Colony of Artists in Tokay which is sponsored now by the state. It does not only attract home artists, but in summers, also foreign participants to the picturesque town by river Tisza. He has strenuously and always with the same intensity kept public interest awake in order to raise culture. To secure this he with his companions established the „Zilahy György" Art-Lovers' Circle that has 500 members in this country. For decades he arranged exhibitions with unwearied steadiness involving numerous painters of the country. Tenkács himself often participated in exhibitions. His pictures, either etchings or made with gouache, aquarelle or oil technics, are characteristically colourful and outlined and often made up with paint patches - showing the varied reflections of the post-impressionalist age. As he paints unambiguously and yet with prospective and modern aspect, his works meet public acknowledgement. His personality and figure is still a firm guarantee to fulfil his various activities completely. Since his retirement in 1975, his creative instinct has even more vigorously glowed up and now he devotes his free time to the poetric description of Tokay regions, the life of its inhabitants and the daily work of wine growers. He is the painter-recorder of Tokay's recent history. For his faith and generosity to public and uplifting culture and for his outstanding artistic activity, he was awarded diplomas and medals. His name has become inseparable from the 900 year old town. The painter, the pedagogue and the organizer Tibor Tenkács is a known and respected personality of the town. 52
