The Public Education Depart­ment with four members does public relations work for the whole organi­zation. It helps the central exhibition arrangement department with orga­nizing its activity both in the town and in the county. On an average 30-35 exhibitions are arranged a year. The number of visitors to the institution in Miskolc and in the county exceeds 600 thousand. In 1982 15 exhibition catalogues - total 42 500 copies - 11 posters ­total 4400 copies and 34 sorts of invitation cards - total 9000 copies - were issued. Employees of the Public Education Department organize, coordi­nate and partly guide visitors coming to see exhibitions and receive visi­tors' groups. They maintain connections with schools and help drawing teachers' work. They organize and guide lecture series on ethnography and folk art in the lecture hall that was arranged in 1981. Together with trade union committees of plants they organize brigade members' visits to exhibitions. Concert series in the Museum have been successful for years, where concerts are given once a month usually on Saturday afternoon in the exhibition hall of Miskolc Picture Gallery. For nearly 10 years now that lecture series has been read on the Regional Studio of the Hungarian Radio and people's high school courses organized in at TIT. The Museum continuously works in the public education of the town and the county. 215
