Bosnian men in felt cloaks from Kökény. Before 1896, photograph by Károly Zelesny also made on black muslin with white yarn. Patterns are bigger, almost scamped. Their prototypes may have been gold embroideries. Contrary to the headdresses of the Sárköz, the smaller ornament is on the front, the bigger covers the knot. They were embroidered with satin, loop, chain, stem, cross and margit stitches. The middle of large rosettes are filled out with crosses and loose stitches. The main pattern adjusts to the back of the headdress that is divided in two symmetrical halves: one half is the reflection of the other. Sometimes they are divided by a row of lace, or they are constructed in one piece. Although patterns of crabs or birds may occur, most patterns are made of rosettes, pomegranates, apples, pears, fruits resembling plums, tulips, roses and wigs with leaves. Most of the patterns are lively, which is accomplished by the changing location of the few elements, and by their clear composition. The kerchiefs from the Ormánság are covered by brightcoloured naturalistic flowers embroidered with silk yarn, which presumably originate in nineteenth-century books of embroidery.
