Headdress/R.n. 94.1.1 /1. 41 cms/ Embroidery is a method of W. 8 cms /Dráva region ornamenting materials like linen or leather when the yarn, more seldom the metallic thread is taken onto the base with the help of a needle. Embroidery is often called 'sewing' by peasants, and the embroiderer with an artistic talent is called a 'sewer'. Embroidery can be complementary to other methods: the appliqué or the woven ornament. We know transitional methods like szálbehúzás, which was made by a needle like embroideries, but the yarn is pulled in between the threads of the loom. Compared to other European folk arts embroidery in Hungarian folk art is extremely important. There are some characteristic variations in Baranya that cannot be found anywhere else in the country. One can encounter with almost all types and many styles of embroidery in our county. Among the scarcely recountable styles of embroidery pinking techniques (like szálvonásos and szálleszorításos works), button-hole satin stitches, the older and newer-style woollen and cotton embroideries made with satin and cross stitches, those 'gold embroideries' that were made with a golden, in a later version yellow or white thread are worth mentioning, or the many versions of satin stitches transformed into high stitches, or the works made with loop Part of a headdress / R.n.
