RÉGÉSZET - Viktor Wéber: Settlement of the Early Urnfield period at Majs–Borza-major (Southern Transdanubia, Hungary)

Settlement of the Early Urnfield period at Majs–Borza-major 199 especially if they show conical or slightly rounded necks, it is possible that they belong to the type with smooth transition. Pots with conical necks tend to have slightly everted rims with or without faceting (Fig. 7/ 2; Fig. 8/ 6). Pots with conical neck were rather common in the Late Urnfield period, proven by their presence e.g. at Tököl ( Patek 1958: 416–417.), Békásmegyer ( Kalicz-Schreiber et al. 2010: 249–251.), and Dalj ( Metzner-Nebelsick 2002: 97–118.). 1.2.a) Pots with conical neck and internally faceted everted rim A total of 7 sherds can be assigned to this type (Fig. 7/ 1; Fig. 7/ 3–5; Fig. 8/ 1; Fig. 8/ 3), 3 of them with rather sparse faceting (Fig. 7/ 3–5). Appearance of vessels with conical necks and everted, internally faceted rims in Slovenia and Croatia is dated to the Ha A period ( Vinski-Gasparini 1973, Tab. 25. 3–4., Črešnar 2010 : 37 ., Fig . 15 .L 7 ., Črešnar – Teržan 2014 : 690–691 ., Ložnjak Dizdar – Gavranović 2014 : 22–23., Fig. 8.). ?eir presence in Hungary seems to date slightly later ( Patek 1968: 90., 94–95., Taf. III- IV., Kőszegi 1988: 47.). ?e urn from Grave 6 of Győr–Ménfőcsanak, dated between the Bz D2–Ha A1/2 periods by the excavator had a slightly conical neck with internally faceted everted rim ( Ilon 2014: 14., Fig. 10. 4.). ?e type remained in use in the Late Urnfield period too, proven by their large number at Békásmegyer ( KaliczSchreiber et al. 2010: 249–251., 261., Typentaf. 3-4.). 2. Amphorae ?e 3 vessels with funnel necks, faceted shoulders and biconical bodies (Fig. 11/ 1–3) can either be classified as the earliest of E. Patek’s Wasserkrüge type with one handle, dated to the Ha A period ( Patek 1968: 96–98.) 4 , or as the amphorae with two handles ( Črešnar 2010: Pl. 15. 11., Pl. 17. 2.). According to F. Kőszegi, vessels with funnel necks can be seen as characteristics of the Čaka culture ( Kőszegi 1988: 29.). J. Paulík dated similar vessels from the tumulus of Očkov to the Ha A period ( Paulík 1962, 54., Abb. 34, Taf. VI.). ?e amphorae from Nagyrécse–Baráka-dűlő were dated to the Ha A1 period ( Fullár 2008: 4. kép 716.49.1.1.), from the depot of Kajárpéc– Pokolfadomb to the Ha A2 period ( Figler 1996: VIII. t.), while from Rogoza to the Ha A or Ha A/Ha B transitional periods ( Črešnar 2010: 73.). According to É. Vadász, vessels with faceted shoulders originate from the Baierdorf-Velatice group and their appearance in Transdanubia can be dated to the Bz D period ( Vadász 1992: 219.). Good parallels for the application of 4 with parallels from Magyaralmás ( Petres 1958: Taf. 1. 1.), Neszmély ( Patek 1968: Taf. V. 1.), and Szentendre ( Říhovský 1966: Obr. 23. H. 9.)
