Jaromir Kovárnik: Az őskori ember hitvilágának tanulmányozása. A sámánizmus kutatása a régészetben

A probe into the spiritual life of prehistoric people, a reflection of shamanism in archaeology Terracotta idols of the late Neolithic were much decorated. The anthropomorphic statuettes had clothing in the form of blouses, skirts and shoes (in the form of painted decoration, plastic and engraving elements were shown). The female statuettes also featured ornaments, a Jordanów copper spiral necklace? like terracotta of the phase MOG lb (FIG. 10) from Falkenstein in Lower Austria, or a necklace such as the Venus phase MOG la of Strelice also the Venus of the phase MOG lia (FIG. 11) from a settlement at Hluboké Masùvky (Salm - Vildomec 1936-1937). All of these ornaments clearly show that the female statuettes displayed a very important being. At the end of the Neolithic and at the very beginning of the Eneolithic, for example in the Lengyel culture and the Moravian-East-Austrian group, phases MOG lla-b, terracotta female statuettes are very wellfted. We think that it is a shift in their meaning from the idol of the fertility of the animals but also of humans) and the fruitfulness (fields) of the Neolithic farmers to the display of priests or goddesses of this cult. It might well be the developmental stage between shamanism and the priesthood. We mean the statuettes of the Jaroméfice n/R variant with the gesture of arms bent at the right angle (up) and with the palms facing the face. The face of female statuettes of this type has an ecstatic stare and is turned obliquely to the celestial vault. Similarly was formed a bowl with four human heads at the corners of the four-corner edge from the settlement at Hluboké Masùvky (FIG. 12). Female statuettes from Hluboké Masùvky with arms folded in elbows in front of the chest and with palms facing the face belong to the most progressive and impressive statuettes (FIG. 11). This gesture may indicate probably invocation, an incentive to come („I expect you" or „come to me"). The statuette was originally covered with a layer of white paste (crusted Fig. 11.
