Migration effects on the change of gables in the Bácska Region

By observing the folk architectural features of the multi-ethnic and multifaith villages of the Bácska region, it becomes clear that the different eras made their noticeable remarks on the gables of the buildings.

The study shows what factors influenced the exterior image of the villages. The effects include the changes in transportation, industry and architecture. As an example, the spread of the plank gable in the Bácska region was connected to the development of woodworking.

The diverse migration waves in several eras brought different visible changes in architecture.

The emergence of different nationalities and religious denominations has also left a mark on the folk architecture of the area.

It is clear, by examining the effects of the recent escapes and economic migrations, that these folk architectural features are slowly disappearing as the population of the villages changes and decreases.
