Historical ethnographic supplementary material on fishing contracts in the eighteenth-century Győr

In this study the author presents the historical ethnographic supplementary material relating to fishing contracts of Győr preserved from the 18th century. He had so far found six related contracts: the earliest from 1754, while the latest was drawn up in 1776 between the city authorities and the people renting the city waters available for fishing. The author, by comparing archived sources, thrives to analyze, amongst others, the following questions:

Which waters did the fishing right extend to?

Who were the charterers?

How did the charterer’s person and the amount of rent of the available fishing waters change over the examined time period? What conditions did the property owners set?

And furthermore, what documents refer to the possible conflicts between charterers and the millers?
