the Szemely-Hegyes No I circular enclosure (Baranya County) and the peculiar peak of Mountain Szársomlyó as well (Bertók-Gáti 2014). Still the gateways on the eastern sides of these circular enclosures face towards the east. In the case of the Bucany (Slovakia) enclosure the solar and lunar orientation, and the practice of aligning toward a topographical feature could be alloyed (Pavúk- Karlovskÿ 2008). According to the results of an earlier research more than 90% of the gateways on the eastern sides of the Lengyel-type rondels looked out on a point on the eastern horizon where the sun would rise at certain times during the year (Pásztor-Barna- Roslund 2008). When plotted on a graph of how many degrees the eastern gateways were from due north it can clearly be seen that the direction of essentially every gateway was between the two extremes - sunrise on the winter and summer solstices - of the annual movement of the Sun (Fig. 20a). When comparing this graph to another representing an arc showing the directions resulted from computer simulated random orientations (Fig. 20b) the significant difference between the two arcs is clearly visible. Further groupings can be discerned within the arc shown in Fig. 20a, but no significant clustering can be seen at the point of the sunrise on the days of 20a 20b 20a kép: A 2008-ig tanulmányozott körárkok keleti kapuinak tájolási értékei, grafikonon megjelenítve 20b kép: Számítógéppel szimulált, véletlenszerű kitűzés által kapott irányok eloszlását mutató grafikon Fig 20a: Graph showing the discrepancy from due north of the orientation values (expressed in degrees) of the eastern gates of the rondels studied up to 2008.
