The Archives of the Town of Szentes in Csongrád County archives and in the life of Hungarian National Archives.The administratively newly formed county archives had to face much work in the first years from 1950 since they had to take over a lot of documents very quickly which often meant saving the documents. The archives could not perform this task totally because of the small number of the employees and small capacity of the stores and because a lot of documents were destroyed in the chaos of the war and the following years but still a plenty of documents were saved for the future. The institutions suffered from the lack of space because of the quick and great integration of documents from the very first moment and a lot of them still do because of the further and fast increase of the number of documents still today Just for this reason it was impossible to follow the unifying principle upon which the county archives should be established in the seat of the county (or perhaps in the new seat) and that it could form a new entity just there. Therefor for example in the county of Győr-Sopron (today Győr-Moson­Sopron county) that was unified from three smaller counties (parts) in 1950, two 'county' archives of the same rank came into being because of the lack of space, the strong historical roots and the appropriately treated material of incredibly great quantity of Sopron town. At the same time the town of Győr became the seat of the unified counties and the town of Sopron lost its rank. Even more in the former seat of Moson county, in Mosonmagyaróvár there remained a branch office of Győr Archives, so the former seats of the former counties could all kept their archival materials on the spot.
