the central organizations, but we did not take over their documents for our fond register. Each institution can be found in the place where they used to belong at their establishment. The Hungarian Jewish Museum founded by IMIT, MIOI managed it after 1945 and MIOK supervised the institution after 1950 but their documents are kept in one place although they are related to three different periods. The societies and associations that belong to fond no. XVII are linked to the parish only in some cases sometimes only in one period of their history, but otherwise they are independent societies e.g. Zionist Association, Fencing and Athletic Club and so on. The documents of Hungarian sections of international organizations belong to fond no. XVIII and support the international centres that do not have written material, e.g. Joint, World Jewish Congress and so on. In fond no. XIX. we collected the personal bequest of prominent public figures like rabbis, teachers, heads of parishes or ordinary Jewish people. The documents can be found in the alphabetical order of people and families. The documents in relation to the Holocaust can be found in fond no. XX. These documents did not necessarily originate from the parish but they might be from other sources as well. Fond no. XXI is the collection of newspapers, periodicals, originated mainly before World War II, sorted out thematically and contains an abundance of anti-Semitic material. Fond no. XXII is an exception to other fonds because it contains a unique collection of photos that can be seen in the archives. The procedure for their maintenace is different from the documents, therefore they are placed in a separate area. Because of their inappropriate maintainence, 90 per cent of the provenance could not be salvaged. The main groups of the photos are the following: portraits, buildings, objects of museums, albums, historic events before the Holocaust, the Holocaust, history after liberation and international events in history. Our last fond is no. XXIII. where posters, placards linked to the material of archives more or less are organized from the last century to the present days. Forming the fonds have been finished. Nowadays disordered material in great quantity is being written up according to the newly formed system. If documents have already belonged to certain fond, the names of the document, at the time of storage and the file quantity are indicated there. Letters D and S show the present fixed location that can be changed later on.
