Kovács Tamás MAGYARORSZÁG ÉS A VILÁG 1945-BEN ELŐZMÉNYEK, TERVEK, KILÁTÁSOK The main goal of the paper is the analysis and description of the way that led to the political situation in 1945. The paper deals with the change of the international situation and the fate and chances of the Kingdom of Hungary during World War II. The study explores how the western allies intensified their cooperation and how the USSR became the ally of Anglo-Saxon countries. It is very clear that the western countries and the USSR commenced to reshape the post-war world from the beginning with their allies. Although it is known they spied on each other. Naturally Hungary could not extricate itself. The Hungarian government faced several severe situations when it had to make a decision but unfortunately the majority of its resolutions were detrimental. Thus Hungary was at war with the USSR, the United Kingdom and the USA by the end of 1941. However, the Kdllay government tried to make an armistice in 1943, but it proved to be only a diversionary operation by the western allies. The Hungarian political elite could not solve the challenge of the withdrawal from the war in 1944. In fact, the fate of Hungary had been decided earlier: the Red Army occupied the country. The world changed by 1944-1945. New global powers were born which dealt with global matters from then on. 1945. május 8-9-én Európában, majd szeptember 2-án Ázsiában is hivatalosan véget ért a II. világháború. Mindkét kontinens, de még Afrika és a Közel-Kelet is megszenvedte a hatévnyi háborút. Magyarország végül a vesztes oldalra került, s ezt csak tetézte az országot ért anyagi és emberi veszteségek szörnyű nagysága. Emellett sokakban ott volt a nagy kérdés: hogyan tovább? Tudjuk, hogy a háború utáni világ megtervezése már a háború alatt megkezdődött, és számos lényegi kérdés el is dőlt 1945-re. Látható volt az is, hogy ebben az új világban az Amerikai Egyesült Államok és a Szovjetunió szerepe lesz a meghatározó, vagy inkább mindent eldöntő. Vajon milyen előzmények után jutott el a világ és Magyarország ehhez a sorsdöntő esztendőhöz? S vajon milyenek lehettek Magyarország kilátásai a jövőre vonatkozóan? Nemzetközi kitekintés Egyfajta korszakhatárnak is tekinthetjük 1939 szeptemberét, amikor Németország megtámadta Lengyelországot. Ezzel véget ért a ’30-as évek végére jellem15
