Archival storage of data and data madia in computing technique (Summary) Imre Bácsa: Closing report of the TKA research work entitled "Archival storage of data media in computing technique" The paper is dealing with the detailed description of the discussions and appraisal of papers on the field of archivation of data media in computing technique. It formulates for the archives the short and long term tasks which must be performed to store informations of historical value saved on magnetic data media safely. The author summarizes the tasks concerning the archivation of magnetic data media in five items: 1. Determination of the field of interest The archives must narrow down their field of interes to the institutions on the field of state administration and to the enterprises under direct state control. In this connection it is very important to regulate legally the relation between the archive and the institution in question. It is necessary to ensure the right of the archive in a rule of law to have a look into the documentation of systems already put in operation. At the same time the obligations of the archive must be determined in order to save the interests of the owners of data. 2. Investigation and appraisal of computer systems The author proposes the introduction of data sheets to record the informations describing the computer systems. He is dealing with the questions to be put on the data sheet. When evaluating the data sheets then the data files to be archived can be selected. 3. Detailed investigation of computer system The systems containing informations of archival value must be investigated more in details to be able to make a decision whether they can be archived. Then the points of view of the detailed investigation are enumerated. 4. Establishing a m eta-data base with the data of the systems investigated Establishing a so-called meta-database containing the data of databases and of other computer systems is important because the archive can trace back what happened to the systems of archival value and it can give informations to the research workers, in which systems can they find informations of their interest. To perform these tasks it is important to establish a co-operation with the Central Statistical Office. 5. Supply of data for research workers When planning the meta-database one must take into account which are the data presenting a basis for answering the question, in which system can one find informations concerning the matter under investigation. It is deaith with the possibilities of making use of a heavy-duty computer in the archives in editing publications, in preparing registers and statistics. Julia Horváth-Gabriella Szeleczki: Programme packages and computer systems beyond the competence of archives The paper divides the systems under investigation in two groups. To the first group belong systems without a character of register and which are not interesting from the point of view of historical research. To the second group belong systems which have a character of register, but it can be stated undoubtedly that they do not contain informations of historical interest. The paper gives a brief survey on com uter systems and data files beyond the competence of archives, which have been investigated at different institutions and enterprises. László Káiniczky: Archival storage of computing technical data and data media The author has made an investigation at Dunántúli Regionális Vízművek (Regional Waterworks of Transdanubia) concerning the systems of information and of data to be discarded on the basis of the practice of nowadays. By this negative approach the domain of data file to be investigated can
