be narrowed down. It was felt necessary for the archives to have a unified notion of the traditional and non-traditional media of storing informations of institutions - easy to survey - and to keep some kind of register. Archival storage of computing technical data media is without a vade-mecum of no use. The minimum of documentation is given as the unified and central register of data files. There must be known in any case the density of storing, the employed code, the layout of the data series, the programme language and references to the content. Vilma Alföldi: Historical investigations of limits of values in the computer systems of MALÉV (Hungarian Airlines) The author has investigated the computer systems of MALÉV (Hungarian Airlines). At enterprise sheet containing the following data have been used to the investigation: - name and author of the system; - time of putting into operation; - task, aim, connection with other systems; - data files, elaborations from these; - fields of application; - methods of archival storage, documentation; • type of the computer. By the aid of data sheets there has been worked out a uniform register and based on this it was possible to separate the data files of so-called historical value and of below the limit of value, resp. By analysing the computer systems of MALÉV (Hungarian Airlines) and comparing with the plan of the enterprise file department it was found that the majority of systems employed does not have a database of historical value, but has a very important role in the operative leading and in office management. Iván Pető: Archival storage of computer data media at KSH (Central Statistical Office) and ÁNH (State Office for Registering the Population) As supposed by Iván Pető the computer technical data media can also be divided into informations of historical value and into informations of value for the office management. It was investigated which archival aspects can or must be taken into account in order to save the systems containing data of historical value. On the other hand it is the question whether there will not be destroyed or discarded informations of historical value in the course of applying computing technics and is it possible to assure the technical conditions in order to promote the interests of the archives. Ildikó Berényi: Archivation of computer data media and data on the field on financial affairs There are described the tasks, computer systems and data - originating from data processing and appearing as outputs in the plan of file departments - of banking houses (National Bank of Hungary, National Trade and Credit Bank, Industrial Co-operative Bank for Development, State Establishment for Development) investigated by the author. K is stated that the appearance of informations can undergo a change depending on the actually attainable technical level. The author is afraid that it will be more difficult to promote the interests of archives in working out and in planning computing systems if there is not given care to the ordering of documents. Imréné Póti: Investigation of large data banks Imréné Póti is dealing in her paper in first line with the theoretical aspects of archiving data banks. She states that the choice of data bases to be archived must be handled in a complex way, including also the extent of the data base into the aspects of choice. The determination of it is a question of comparison in consequence of the fast development. There is proposed in the paper to determine a domain of data bases to be archived (by means of data sheets), to register the archived data bases centrally, to establish a so-called meta-database system and to regulate, to unify archival storage of data bases and to suppose that they are sav£d in so-called database files.
