1921 177 No. 156. 1053 'pol. The Representative of the Hungarian Government in Warsaw, Count Csekonics, to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Gratz. [TRANSLATION] Code telegram No. 45. WARSAW, February 26, 1921. The Foreign Minister 1 arrived on Thursday- night and is leaving to-night for Bucharest. It is expected that he will spend eight days there. Yesterday there was a widely spread rumour of his resignation as a result of the decision taken in London about the Upper Silesian plebiscite. Whether he remains is even more dependent on the result of his journey to Bucharest. The idea of a Czech-Polish agreement is repugnant to everybody, and the opinion prevails in military circles that it is only a tactical move until the conclusion of the Rumanian agreement. 3 No. 157. 92 res. pol. Notes of the unofficial Representative of the Hungarian Government, Count Szapáry, on his interview with the Czecho-Slovak Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Benes, on February 26, 1921. Alors, 1 Prince Sapieha. 2 February 24. 3 Cf. supra, Does. Nos. 100 and 102; and infra, Doc;. No;. 159 and 216. 4 The original document in the archives of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs is undated. The notes were obviously written by Count Szapáry immediately following his interview with Dr. Benes. 5 The date originally agreed upon for the meeting of the Hungarian and Czecho-Slovak statesmen; cf. supra, Docs. Nos. 135 and 140. 15
