1919 il The Hungarian National Government sent a note to the Papal Nuncio in Vienna 1 asking permission to send a diplomatic representative to the Pope. It is contemplated sending Mr. Nóvák, Bishop of Eper es, a minister. July 24. An attempt was made to obtain the release of officers interned by the Rumanians. Captain Joseph Hajós was appointed as military attaché to Belgrade. A note was wired to General Franchet d'Esperay concerning the beginning of our military action against the bolsheviks. July 25. Mr. Magyary, our representative in Belgrade, reported to the Minister for Foreign Affairs that he was cordially received both by Serb Government circles and by the Allied Missions. He also reported on preliminary questions concerning Serbian cooperation. The Cabinet Council decided to send a representative to Czechoslovakia to negotiate pending questions. July 26. The Government sent a note to the Peace Conference requesting protection of Hungarian private property in Transyl­vania and pointing out the necessity for urgent intervention. July 28. The Serb Government was urged to terminate the processes instituted against Hungarian civil servants by the Serb military authorities. Instructions were sent to Count Bethlen to introduce Mr. Antal Éber, who will be appointed our Minister of Finance, to the Allied Missions in Vienna. July 29. The Government sent a note to the Peace Conference in reply to the manifesto which the Peace Conference addressed 1 Valfrè di Bonzo.
