1920 157 No. 136. 292/pol. The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Count Somssich, to the Minister of Hungary in Vienna, dr. Gratz. [TRANSLATION] Code telegram No. 65. BUDAPEST, February 19, 1920. With reference to your report No. 91/pol. of January 16th. 1 I have appointed Mr. Gustav Pechár to go to Prague as unofficial delegate of the Hungarian Government, and to enter into informal conversations with the Czech Government concerning the possibility of formal economic negotiations between Czechoslovakia and Hungary. Mr. Pechár was instructed to call on you in Vienna and you are requested to give him such advise and information as you deem necessary for the successful discharge of his mission. No. 137. 965/pol. The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Count Somssich, to the Swiss Consul General in Budapest, Mr. Kienast. [TRANSLATION] BUDAPEST, February 19, 1920. In reply to your communication No. 9965 of February 18th, 2 I have the honour of addressing this request to you to beg your Government to intervene with the Rumanian Government on behalf of Colonel Imre Csécsy-Nagy and other Hungarian officers and civil servants who were innocently sentenced to death. It may be pointed out that not only does this sentence lack legal foundation but according to reliable information the investigation and the trial was conducted in a way which does not satisfy even elementary requirements of an orderly administration of justice. It would be deeply appreciated if you would be good enough to include in your intervention reference to the case of Z. G., and I. G., two Hungarian officers who, according to recent information, were also sentenced to death by the Rumanian authorities occupying Kolozsvár. Please accept, etc. 1 Supra, Doc. No. 78. 2 Supra, Doc. No. 135.
