Résumé The Conceptual Framework ofU.S. Hegemonic Order: The Depiction of Terror and Security in the U.S. Scholarly Discourse on Issues of the War on Terror The present study examines the discursive depiction of the concepts of terror and security through a specific segment of the post 9/11 U.S. scholarly literature. Analyzing the scholarly and at the same time politically normative works of Anne-Marie Slaughter, Michael Ignatieff and Fernando R. Tesón the paper wishes to shed light on what kind of conceptual and linguistic order U.S. domestic and foreign policy measures have been embedded into from 9/11 to date and how this order secures conceptual and institutional latitude and social legitimacy for certain forms of foreign and domestic policy actions and measures. Based on the above mentioned scholars' works, the paper provides a detailed analysis of different depictions of the U.S. self-image, the possible and desirable forms of behaviour as a result of hegemonic position, and also the different forms of relating to others, which constitute the international system, e.g. the definition of the image of U.S. enemies, terrorism, fundamental Islam, and the discursive depiction of other actors (e.g. failed states) as security risks. 86 Külügyi Szemle
