Résumé The Traditions and Africa - Today The thesis of essay, which concentrates on the development of the various ethnic communities of today's Africa, and the modernization processes in connection with it, is that the material remains and the role of the extremely rich traditional culture can hardly be ignored. It does not only appear in the still living practice of oral forms (taletelling, epoch-singing, singing-dancing folk traditions, etc.), but it also permeates the modes of production (artisan techniques), as well as the everyday community-social (and, therefore, political) thinking. In other words, the remains of the past are present in the lives of the African peoples nowadays, and the designers and the managers of economic development, no matter whether they are Africans or economic or commercial experts from other continents, can only ignore it at their own peril. 2008. tél 27
